What
is a domain name and why buy one?
A domain
name is a unique address that identifies a computer or network which is connected
to the Internet. A direct connection is not required to take advantage of having
your own domain name.
Why
should you register a domain name for your business or organization?
They
are scarce. Internet domain names
are a rapidly diminishing commodity. They are allotted on a first-come first-serve
basis. There can only be one "yourcompany.com" on the Internet, so make sure you
register your organization quickly before it is gone for good. The longer you
wait, the less likely you will be able to get your specialized name.
They
are important. The Internet domain name has become a vital part
of corporate identity. In the 21st Century, your domain name will be as important
as your logo or brand name to your presence in a global marketplace.
They
are versatile. Any E-mail addressed to you at ceo@yourcompany.com
can be forwarded to your current E-mail address (or fax machine with our E-mail
Fax Service).
Important!
Even if you are just considering using the Internet
and World Wide Web for your business, we highly recommend that you register your
domain name as soon as possible (there is a current load of 17,000 registrations
per pay to the InterNic). Once registered, you will own the domain name and no
one else in the world will be able to get it. We will hold on to your domain name
records until you decide how to make the Internet work for you. At that point,
even if you don't use our business for you Internet needs, you will still own
your Domain Name and be able to use it.
